Appearance: Orihime is 5'2", with long straight auburn hair falling past her waist, big expressive gray eyes, a cute face, and prominent cleavage. She wears two pale blue 6-petaled flower hairpins, which, when she activates her spiritual energy, morph into 6 small fairies, each pair of two petals becoming a pair of wings. When she arrives in Manhattan, she'll be wearing the white uniform of the Arrancar, the long sleek white coat and robes with black edging and belt.
Personality: While Orihime has some very deep griefs and insecurities, she tries to seem carefree and energetic, unbothered by them. She very rarely gives in to more negative emotions when in view of others. Generally, she seems eccentric, creative to the point of bizarre, bouncy and full of smiles. She's prone to daydreams which often start out fairly ordinary but have a tendency to take a turn for the bizarre. Orihime will do absolutely anything for her friends, even if it's misguided, and while she's dependent on them, what she wants is, if not for them to be dependent on her, to at least be able to help them, to do something.
Abilities: While in canon, her healing abilities are so strong that she can regrow an entire missing limb, by rejecting the time that had passed within that small area, making it so the injury had never happened at all, here, her abilities will not be quite so powerful. In Manhattan, she will still be able to heal, but she won't be able to regenerate things that aren't still there. Her offensive abilities, already weaker than most of her canon counterparts, and the shields she can produce, will also be significantly weaker. Additionally, using her powers will require more concentration and will leave her much more worn out than usual. She won't be able to keep healing people over and over without suffering severe exhaustion. Oh, also, she's a karate black belt, according to Tatsuki.
Weaknesses: Orihime feels unable to confess her deeper feelings and insecurities to anyone, and occasionally acts on them in ways that would have been advised against had she managed to share. She lacks the will to hurt anyone, and therefore has difficulty using her full offensive abilities, although she tries her best when a friend is in danger. The girl is quite intelligent, but somewhat lacking in common sense in many situations. She can be easily manipulated through use of those she cares about.
History: Orihime was raised by her older brother. Her parents were abusive, and when she was three and her brother was 18, he left home, taking her with him. However, when she was 12, he was killed in a car wreck. Since then, she has lived on her own, with some financial support from relatives. However, her brother became a Hollow, a spirit gone bad, losing control and tried to kill Orihime in jealousy over the fact that she seemed to be forgetting him. Ichigo, along with Orihime, managed to help him find peace.
From this point on, Orihime could see ghosts. She developed powers, in the form of her hairpins separating to become 6 fairies, manifestations of her spiritual power. With them, she could heal, shield, and fight. Her powers were brought out by her desire to protect her best friend, Tatsuki. She and Chad trained together under a mysterious cat named Yoruichi to learn to use their powers.
When Rukia was taken back to Soul Society and scheduled for execution, Orihime, Ishida, and Chad accompanied Ichigo to rescue her. Amid a fiasco in which Captain Aizen of the 5th division of shinigami faked his own death and embarked on a plan to destroy both the world and Soul Society, they just barely managed to succeed in their objective, preventing her execution and returning home.
While home, Orihime's insecurities and feelings of weakness grew, making her feel that she couldn't help protect her friends.
Ulquiorra, one of Aizen's top subordinates, the Espada, came to her with a proposition. If she came quietly with him, and used her powers for them, they wouldn't kill all of her friends. Especially in her somewhat vulnerable state, she grasped at the opportunity to do something to keep those safe, even if her action didn't make sense and was a bit misguided. When they came after her, she was happy to see the depth of their caring for her, but couldn't understand why they had come, when her whole purpose had been to keep them from getting hurt or killed, and feeling their spirit energy flicker as they were hurt or close to death made her feel horrible.
When Ulquiorra found her again though, she looked him in the eye, unafraid of dying, and finally understanding the feelings of those she'd left behind in order to save them. Ichigo arrived, and Orihime turned her gaze to him, before everything went black and she found herself here.
